STEP UP YOUR STEP ON experience with LIFT LINE CONVENIENCE + BACKCOUNTRY SAFETY
Whether you're looking for another layer of security in the backcountry, dealing with mobility issues, smashing laps and are done with squatting down to release your back foot in that sea of ski pole tips known as the lift line, the Pro Standard Push Button Quick Release with it's convenience and safety is the answer.
Why You Need The Push Button Quick Release
- Lift line convenience and efficiency
- Backcountry safety
- The smoothest, fastest, easiest "Get Out" for Step ON bindings
- 2 minute install
- Ultra Light
- It could save your life
- Fits every year, brand, model and size of Step ON
- Designed by Snowboard Hall of Fame member Ken Achenbach and 2010 Halfpipe World Champion Justin Lamoureux
How It Works
Instead of squatting to your ankle to release your back binding, simply reach down to the top of your highback, push the Quick Release button and step out of your binding. As Burton designed the system to reset only when you step out, you can push the button to release your boot at the start of the lift line, slide through the line with you boot still in the binding and step out without squatting down to release it again.
The Main Advantages Over The Stock Lever
Faster get out. You’re pushing the board away from your foot when you release. It’s lightning fast.
If you have mobility issues, these are mandatory. You’ll save about 20cm of reaching.
Those first 2 points will add up if you ever get stuck in a compromised situation, like in a treewell, you have a much better chance of getting off of your board. They could be life saving.
They take a couple minutes to install, fit all the step ons, and yes, you can still fold down your highback.

2027 PRODUCT UPDATE
METAL BUTTON

I've updated the design for 2027 by changing from plastic threaded to a 316 stainless steel threaded part that's powder coated to match. The actual button portion is fiberglass reinforced plastic.

WHICH PUSH BUTTON DO YOU NEED?
Goofy - Order the Left Version
Regular - Order the Right Version
RIDING SWAPPED HIGHBACKS?
When you look down at your Right binding, you’re now using a Left lever. Vice versa if you did the swap on a Left binding now you need to order a Right lever.
Union Bindings do not allow for the lever swap; so you order a Right lever for a Right binding, and then a Left lever for a Left binding.

Hi Ken,
I've been meaning to send this email for a while. Just a quick thank
you note about your quick release product and a short story about how
it helped me out of a bad situation.
Last March, I went headfirst into a tree well while riding alone in
deep snow at Alpental (stupid, I know). I ended up inverted, with my
board wedged across the well and snow collapsing around my head. I was
able to grab the tree trunk, pull my head up and keep my airway clear,
but my lower body was pinned.
The day before, I'd installed a Pro Standard release lever on my
back Step On.
While holding onto the tree with one arm, I was just barely able to reach back with the other arm to reach the top of the extension lever.
It took several tries because the binding was packed with snow, but
eventually the binding released and gave me just enough mobility to
start working my way out of the well. About half an hour later, I
finally crawled free.
Anyway, I don't want to overstate things, but I don't know how the
situation would have turned out without the Pro Standard release on my
binding. My intent for buying your product really was just to make
getting out of my rear binding easier (in my mid-50s now and not as flexy as I used to be!). But your device gave me an option I otherwise might not have had that day, during a situation that could have ended
very badly.
I just wanted to pass along my thanks for making a great product. It
mattered a lot to me that day last March.
Cheers,
Lewis K

Adjustable Height Quick Release Button
The Push Button Quick Release Button can be raised or lowered to where it works best for you. In the box are 3-6mm spacers. They aren't needed for Small or Medium bindings. Depending on your highback, on small and medium bindings, the button will be higher than the highback. That's OK.
For Large and XL Bindings, add 1, 2 or 3 spacers to your Push Button height is even or slightly below the top of your highback. Once you've added the correct amount of spacers for your height highback, screw the Push Button down tight onto the spacers until there is no visible thread. With the new Stainless steel button, if you like the raw look with the threads showing, hit it. The spacers are just to make the stick look like one solid piece.
Compatible With Every Brand, Year, Model & Size of Step ON®
No matter what version of Step ON® that you ride, the Pro Standard Push Button Quick Release is the perfect upgrade, compatible with every size, every year, and model of Step On® from Burton, Union, Nitro and Flux.

RESORT RIDING = CONVENIENCE
BACK BINDING USE ONLY
In resort riding you only need the Push Button Quick Release on your back foot for the convenience in getting out of your binding in the lift line.
DO NOT INSTALL THE PUSH BUTTON QUICK RELEASE ON YOUR FRONT BINDING WHEN RIDING LIFTS. IF YOU HIT THE RELEASE BUTTON ON THE BOTTOM OF THE CHAIR OR ANOTHER PERSON'S BOARD OR SKI IT WILL RELEASE.
BACKCOUNTRY = SAFETY
"The Push Button Quick Release could save your life."
- Doug Lundgren
Level 3 Heli Snowboard Guide.
Avalanche Forecaster at Big White Ski Area
In the backcountry, splitboarding, catboarding or heliboarding, it's all about safety. It's where our inspiration came from to create the system. In the backcountry is when you want the Push Button Quick Release on both bindings, it was designed to make it as easy as humanly possible to get out of your bindings if you end up in a tree well or in a situation that makes it hard or impossible to reach your ankle.
"I use Burton Step ONs for Heli-guiding. The problem of having to reach down to your heel to release is a big issue, especially if you are in a tree well. This will add years to my heliboarding and may even save a life or two."
- Bob Sayer

“This will be so good for me as I have atrophy and nerve damage in my left quad/femoral nerve from surgeries."- Amber N.

Once you ride with the Push Button Quick Release, you'll never go back.
ALSO HOW TO INSTALL
WHAT'S IN THE BOX

INSTALLATION & USAGE
INSTALLING THE L'HIVER
Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, remove the release lever from your binding. Hold the T-Nut at the back with your finger and install the Push Button Quick Release L'Hiver in it's place. Unlike the lever you just took off, the
Push Button Quick Release L'Hiver points back to the heel.
POSITIONING THE QUICK RELEASE STICK GUIDE
Put the stick part as straight up as possible from the heel. Push the stick down as if you were releasing the binding. Position the guide at the point on your highback where the end of the stick is. Depending on your highback design, for added strength, slide the included zip ties through the holes in the back of the guide and then through a slot or hole in your highback.
RELEASING YOUR BOOT
To activate the release mechanism, push down on the release button. Do not hold down the release button as you pull your boot out of the binding as it was designed not to release in this scenario. Simply push down, let go, and lift your heel out of your binding in one smooth motion. Pushing the button as you glide into the lift line and then lifting your foot out as you come to a stop is the best feeling ever.
RELEASING TIP
Step ON's are designed so that they only let your biding out when your weight is neutral. The release will feel stiff depending on where your weight is in the binding. If your weight is on your toes, it will be very hard to release, stiff to the point of "This must be broken, it's not releasing!" Instead, use the feedback to relaize your weight is on your toes and shift your weight to neutral or more on your heels in the binding. Now the release will be so smooth you don't even feel it.
HEIGHT ADJUSTMENT & POSITIONING
Small & Medium Size Bindings
Screw the button all the way down and you're good to go. No spacers are needed. It will stick up above your highback.
Large & XL Size Bindings
Rotate the button in either direction until you have it at the desired height. Slide 1, 2 or 3 of the spacers over the threads and crank it down tight..
KEEPING YOUR PUSH BUTTON QUICK RELEASE SAFE
When getting on the chair be sure to have your highback folded down to avoid it get caught/crushed under the chair seat. We built the adjustability to make it fit over 80 different highbacks. The temptation is there to make it as high up as possible. Don't do it. Having it above your highback makes it vulnerable to breakage from accidentally kicking it while skating, someone stepping on it in the lift line, hooking on things as you walk or getting caught/crushed under the chair when you load. In case you're wondering... we've done all of the above during testing prototypes. If you have small or medium bindings, the button will be above your highback. Screw the push button down as far as you can and you're good to go.
